SCA / Roasting Intermediate
The Roasting Intermediate course offered by the SCA is designed for those who already have a basic knowledge of coffee roasting and wish to deepen their skills. It focuses on advanced principles and practices of roasting, providing more detailed training on the technical, scientific, and sensory aspects of the roasting process.
During the course, students learn to manage and control heat during roasting, understand the chemical reactions that occur in coffee during the roasting process, and develop skills in sensory evaluation and cupping of roasted coffees. Different roasting techniques, advanced roasting profiles, and strategies to achieve high-quality results are also explored.
The Roasting Intermediate course by the SCA is a next step for roasting professionals who aim to enhance their abilities and knowledge in the field. At the end of the course, students can take an examination and, upon successful completion, obtain an internationally recognized certification that attests to their coffee roasting skills.
